In just a few days we will say goodbye to yet another year.

I believe with all my heart that 2014 will begin a New Chapter in our family's Journey.   I believe GOD has Huge Plans.

As CHRISTmas Day passed so did another Anniversary of when our Journey began.  7 Years Ago CHRISTmas Day our lives changed forever.
(For those who are just beginning to read my blog you can see our journey at

As I look toward the coming year, I do so with Great Expectations and Excitement in my Heart.
I Give This and Every Year over To God.  May HIS PLANS be our Plans.  May HE Have FULL CONTROL Over Every Day and Night of This and Every Year of our lives.

Fasten your seatbelts and hold on tight as we begin our journey into 2014!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Merry CHRISTmas

This CHRISTmas for us, like so many others, means a Road Trip.

Something that used to bring joy and excitement but ask anyone who's traveled with a bedridden patient and they can probably tell you a few stories.

Have you ever tried to find a place to change a six foot baby's diaper?
Yes, some Rest-Stops have
"Family Facilities"
but the times I've needed them the doors were locked and there was no one around to unlock them.

Or like all the times I taken David to potty in the "Lady's" side of the Rest-Stop. Oh Boy have we gotten some Looks.

Or the time he refused to leave and sat there In the stall In the lady's restroom for over an hour.

Or the time his diaper overflowed in a Subway Restaurant all over his chair and the floor. (That was not long after all this happened and we discovered, the hard way, that we needed something better than
pull-up for adults for him.)
After telling the manager what had happened Trammell & I then had to unpack a suitcase, search for dry pants then not only change David's diaper but his clothes too, in the Subway restroom.
Oh yes, the list goes on.

So as you travel this CHRISTmas Season be Kind to all those on the road.
You have No Idea
WHAT They are dealing with.

A Change Is In The Air

I feel a change in the air.

It's called HOPE.

I believe GOD is working on a Plan.
A Huge Plan.

As our Documentary airs this weekend, beginning tonight, at
Barefoot Church and on the Worldwide Web, I believe this is
part of a Huge Plan God has been
working on for 7 years.

This CHRISTmas Morning will be the
7 year anniversary of when our lives
were turned upside down.  The beginning of a Testimony That God
Has Given us.  One that is to be used
to Touch Lives, to Change Lives, to Help Those Who Are Suffering, To Show Them What GOD CAN AND WILL DO IN THEIR LIVES.

I THANK HIM
I PRAISE HIM
For Everything HE Has Done,
Everything HE Is Doing
And
Everything HE Is Going To Do
In our lives.
Amen

I believe that this is
Just The Beginning.

Thanks & Giving

I can't even begin to list ALL of the things I am THANKFUL for but I can tell you the Top of that list begins with our LORD JESUS CHRIST.
I am So Thankful that HE carries my family and me through every second of every day and night.  No matter WHAT is happening in our lives.
I am THANKFUL for my Family.
My Precious little family. We may go through trial after trial, But we know that it is Not in vain.
We are THANKFUL because we know that GOD has a Plan for it ALL and we Trust HIM with ALL our hearts.
I am THANKFUL for our extended family, our friends, our Church, for where we are being Blessed to live at this time, .....
I could go ON and ON and ON.
(Which, for those who "know" me know how True THAT statement is ;)

As we leave this holiday that focuses on Being THANKFUL and enter into the CHRISTmas season, which focuses on GIVING may we REMEMBER Those who are not as Blessed as we are, Who are not as warm as we are, Who's refrigerators and cabinets are not as full,  Who's laughter is rare and Who's tears are Many.
May we FOCUS On Them.
May we HELP Them.
May we PRAY for Them.
May we Bring RELIEF to Them.
May we Bring HOPE to Them.
May we Bring CHRIST to Them this CHRISTmas Season
and ALL YEAR LONG.

Remember to Give THANKS
and to GIVE All Year Long.
It's just NOT a SEASONAL THING.

Psalm 100:4
Enter His gates with Thanksgiving and His courts with Praise ; give Thanks to Him and Praise His Name.

Living Under House Arrest - Things I Would Change

Recently I read a post on my Facebook page that asked the question,  "If you could,  would you go back and change anything in your life?"
Of course in ALL the comments not one person answered no.
My answer would have been So extremely long, had I begin to list everything I would love to change, I would Still be writing days later so I simply put "OH YES!"

I have thought about that question off and on for the past few days.
What would I change during the past 55 years?
Only every second that I did not allow God to control.  Every minute of wasted time spent on The "Me" life.  And Every hour I walked through this life with the devil's blinders on.

I Praise God that I finally woke up to discover what HE placed me here to do is the REASON I am here to begin with.
I am So Ashamed that I didn't wake up sooner.
Ashamed that I slept right through the many alarm clocks God placed in my path that should have awakened me from my slumber and alerted me that time was ticking and there was so much work to be done.

GOD'S WORK.

For after all, that's the reason we excise to begin with. Isn't it.

Ask yourself, am I living my life doing what I will some day regret?

Am I wasting precious seconds, minutes & hours falling right into the devil's trap or am I handing it ALL Totally Over To God.

Ask HIM today to engulf your life and take Full Control over every aspect of it.
Pray this every morning and hand it ALL Over To HIM.
Begin today to live God's Plan in your life.
Because God's Plan is Always Best.

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

ISN'T A ROLLER COASTER SUPPOSED TO BE FUN?

This week has been another week of

Ups and Downs.

Stress and Rejoice.

When I stand back and look at it I realize it's a battle.

A battle between Good and Evil.

That's what our time on this earth boils down to.
A constant battle  between Good and Evil.
The devil  is constantly trying to destroy and tear down anything and everything that God is building up.
Know this one thing. If you are being attacked by the devil it is only because he is afraid of what GOD is doing or about to do in your life.
So grab your Bible, suit up and be ready for battle.

I have NO Doubt, what so ever, that GOD is about to do a MIGHTY WORK in our lives.
Things we could NEVER accomplish on our own.  THAT'S Why the devil is shaking in his red hot boots.
That's why he's attacking us from all sides. he's nervous and should
very well be so.

Our Wonderful Church,
BAREFOOT CHURCH in North Myrtle Beach, is rallying around our family and will begin to lift us from the nightmare we have been living through for the past 7 years and will begin to HELP us HELP others who are living this same nightmare.
That is our dream.
That through GOD'S GRACE
we can show GOD'S GRACE.

I've always taught Trammell,  our son, that when things in life get bad, continue to focus on the needs of others.
Take your mind off your own problems. Never forget, GOD WILL take care of your every need.
Allow HIM to use you to take care of the needs of others.

The most important thing to remember is that we are on this earth for two reasons
1. TO SERVE GOD
2. TO HELP OTHERS

IT'S THAT SIMPLE

Ephesians 6:11
Put on the full armor of GOD,  so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.

LIVING UNDER HOUSE ARREST

WHAT A WEEK!

It's So Exciting To Watch God At Work!

I'll tell ya, If you know any unbelievers just have them
watch our life.  There is NO denying that GOD is in
control.

Sunday - Nov. 3rd, 8:30am, Trammell and I left for the
Upstate as our nurse, Betty, took over caring for David.
We had the most wonderful drive up.  Trammell had
brought along his James Taylor CHRISTmas CD which
played over and over during the entire 5 hour drive
(until we reached the Greenville area and I switched
 over to HIS RADIO).
And YES I sang THE ENTIRE WAY.
POOR Trammell.

We went by Geneva's house, dropped of some
things for her family then went to the hotel to
check in having only a few minutes to run and
throw our suitcases in the room then take off
to meet the builder at our home we'd sold him
in June of this year when it was destroyed
beyond our ability to repair.
He has done an unbelievable job on the house.
It made Trammell and me so homesick as we
walked through it.
We had had to leave it when Trammell and David
both were in wheelchairs because it's 3 stories.

It was our dream home BUT GOD has taught us
that our only TRUE "Dream Home" is waiting
for us in Heaven.  And we'll Never have to give
it up.

After that we spent a Wonderful evening at Fatz
with my family.  It was SO Awesome to get to
see everyone.  We had our
"Thanksgiving Dinner" while we were in the
Upstate.  Yes, Fatz did have Turkey with all
the trimmings and it was out of this world.

Then we took off back to the hotel where
Trammell and I were BLESSED to get a
FULL NIGHT OF SLEEP!
Night # 84 in almost 7 years for me.
PRAISING GOD!

Monday, We spent half the day in Anderson.  Met Amy, a sweet friend who gave us a really cool art easel for David. Then met another dear friend who took us to lunch.
After that we went back to Greenville where we chilled out & has an ice cream before we had to be at Channel 16 around 7:00 for my appearance on Dove Nite Line at 8:00.
Right after we arrived at the Station I received a call from the guy who bought our house.  He told me he would sign our home back over to us if we could come up with $50,000 to reimburse him for the repairs.
In our life before all this happened that wouldn't have been a problem at all.  BUT now, it may as well have been a billion dollars.

We tried to figure out ways to raise the money but in the mean time we Prayed asking the Lord to show us a sign to let us know if we should try and get the house back and move back home or should we just turn loose and let it go and remain here on the coast.

Well, God showed us a sign In A Big Way.
We returned home Tuesday and
Wednesday afternoon I received a phone call from our Preacher asking me to come to a meeting at the Barefoot Conference Center at 11:00 Thursday.

I arrived at the meeting and met  with 4 committee members including Preacher Clay & his sweet  wife Kim.
They asked me to tell them our entire story.
I told the about our seven year Journey.  Our nightmares and our Hopes and dreams.
They told me that on November 12 at 6:30 to 8:30 there will be a program at the Conference Center honoring the volunteers in our Church and that one of the things our Preacher will focus on will be our family's Journey.  What a Blessing.
They also want to begin helping us pay for our nursing care for David!
This means Trammell & I will get to leave our home more than the 4 hours a week we usually do. (That costs us $40 a week).
What A Blessings!
:)
PLUS they want to help us in the making of our Documentary and the filming of our Show we are trying to get going called LIVING UNDER HOUSE ARREST,
where I go into the homes of others living through our same nightmare and improve there lives as I share God's Grace and Love with them.

Is THAT A SIGN OR WHAT!!

IT'S SO AWESOME WATCHING GOD AT WORK!

WHAT AN AWESOME GOD WE SERVER!

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make
straight your paths.

LIVING UNDER HOUSE ARREST

I AM SOOOO TIRED.
But I have no intentions on giving up.

My strength comes from The Lord
therefore it is unlimited.

I have no desire other than to spend
the rest of my life doing exactly what
GOD has placed me here to do.

My regrets, are only every moment I have
wasted on this earth NOT doing what
HE placed me here to do.
For that I humbly ask HIS forgiveness.

Trammell and I will leave in the morning
at 8:30 to drive to the Upstate of South
Carolina so I will be able to appear on a
TV show called Nite Line on Channel 16
Monday night.
I will be sharing our family's story and
Testimony.
I will also talk about our Ministry and
how we, through GOD's Grace, are able to
help other families who are living the same
nightmare.

Please be in Prayer with us, as we leave David
here with our nurse.
Even though we tell him we are leaving for a
couple of days he forgets within a few minutes.
He has no short term memory.
Trammell and I are only away from him for
4 hours a week so I know when we are gone
this long he gets confused.

Please also Pray for our safety.  Our minivan
has over 168,000 miles on it.  It is through
GOD's Grace that it is still going strong.
With HIM All Things Are Possible.

Psalm 28:7
The Lord is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me.
My heart leaps for joy, and with my
song I praise Him.

LIVING UNDER HOUSE ARREST

35 Degrees this morning.
It's Cold.
I just Do Not like the cold.

My heart goes out to those who now
find themselves having to live out in it.
My Prayers go up
and tears fall down my face for them.

I Am Blessed
to be sitting in my nice little WARM bed
with all the covers pulled up around me,
as I sip on a Caramel Macchiato "flavored" cup of COFFEE
in my snowman coffee cup,
as I type this.

SMILING

We've had a rough few days and nights so it really
feels good for All things to be calm right now.

My sweet David is all tucked in his bed, sleeping
like a baby as he holds tight to his two favorite
sock monkeys.

Trammell, my Precious son, my HERO is on his
phone uploading a song from the old Lion King
movie that will be sure to jar him straight out of bed
in the morning. "The Circle Of Life".
LOL,
Turn it up and Listen to the beginning of the song.

We are both excited about teaching
our Sunday School Class in the morning
(as we always are)
and want to make sure that no matter how rough
the night goes we will be up early
and at Church on time.

The new theme for the Kid's Department
is a Circus Theme called
"Off The Rails".
It begins in the morning at 9:15.
FUN!!!

By the way, if you are ever in the
North Myrtle Beach area we'd Love
to have you come and join us at
BAREFOOT CHURCH on Main Street.
You Will Truly Be Blessed.

Trammell and I just hate that we will miss
Church next week as we drive to the Upstate
but we excited and are looking forward to
meeting our family for dinner Sunday
afternoon in Easley.  This will be our first
Holiday Season without our Mom & Dad.
We lost both of them last year.
This year begins yet another "New Normal"
in our lives.

Trammell and I feel So Blessed to have the
opportunity to appear on a show called
Dove Nite Line on Channel 16,
WGGS-TV Monday night, Nov. 4th at 8pm.
We will be sharing our story and Testimony.

Trammell and I began Praying for God to
Enlarge our Territory in July of this year.
We read The "Prayer of Jabez for Teens"
book one last time before Trammell turned 20.
We've been Praying the Prayer of Jabez
since then.
God is Truly answering our Prayers
and opening doors.
We are
PRAISING HIM FOR IT!!

WE GIVE HIM ALL THE GLORY!!

1 Chronicles 4:10
Jabez cried out to the God of Israel,
"Oh, that you would bless me and
enlarge my territory!
Let your hand be with me,
keep me from harm so
that I will be free from pain."
And God granted his request.

www.bycefamily.weebly.com
Please Continue to Pray for our
family.
It cost us $10 per hour in nursing
care for David for every hour
Trammell and I are away from home.

LIVING UNDER HOUSE ARREST

Trammell and I are in Duluth, GA, right outside
of Atlanta.  We drove up yesterday so that we could
appear on a TV show called Atlanta Live to share
our family's Testimony.

We believe that God is opening doors and leading
us down the path to our dream of helping more
families who are living through the same nightmare
we have been living for almost 7 years.

We have begun filming our documentary which is the
first step to having our show called
                 "LIVING UNDER HOUSE ARREST".

We are Praying for the funds to buy a RV so that we
will be able to take David with us so our family can be
together as we travel, spread the Love of CHRIST,
help families in need and film our show.

I hand it ALL over to our Lord Jesus Christ.
May HIS Plan be our Plan for each and every
day of our lives.

Ephesians 3:20
Now all glory to God, Who is able, through
His mighty power at work within us, to
accomplish infinitely more than we might
ask or think.

LIVING UNDER HOUSE ARREST - Advice For The Young

I'm STILL PRAISING GOD for allowing me
to attend a Wonderful Women's Conference
at our Church (Barefoot Church)
last night called THREADS.
What a True BLESSING!
Ladies, If you EVER get the chance to attend
PLEASE don't pass it up.
I'm already looking forward to next year!

One of my passions is teaching children.
ALL ages.
For over 20 years I taught Modeling and Etiquette
classes.  90% of my students were teenage girls.  I
still have many of the thank you cards and letters
from girls and parents thanking me for giving them
the self-confidence the needed to become graceful
young ladies.

As I look back though, I think about another kind
of Grace I should have been teaching them.
The Grace of our Lord Jesus CHRIST.

I long to share with young girls the mistakes I made
as I entered my 20's, thinking of only ME and my
Career, with no concern of the plans GOD had for
my life.
No longer being the kind of roll-model I should have been.

As I have aged and become wiser with the years I
now understand what I should have realized so many
years before, that GOD'S PLAN is ALWAYS BEST.
HIS PLAN is what we should seek even from an early
age.

Girls AND guys need to also understand that the mistakes
they make now can alter the rest of their lives.

When I was 17 I received the greatest complement a guy
could ever give a girl.
Although I didn't see it as one at the time.

His name was Ray and he was my first real boyfriend.
I was in love for the first time.  My heart would flutter
each time I heard his voice on the phone or when I saw
his mustang turn the corner onto our street.
Just to be near him was a joy.
BUT I had stick rules.  Not my parents rules but my own.
I would only hold hands.  No kissing or anything.
I believed that ALL that was to be saved for my honeymoon.

After a few months of dating, to my dismay, Ray broke up
with me.  I was crushed.  So broken hearted. I couldn't
understand why.
That's when he told me, "I really do
like you BUT you are the kind of girl you MARRY,
NOT the kind of girl you DATE."

Of course I was devastated at the time and did not realize
he was giving me the greatest complement a girl could ever
get.

I tell you this to make a point.
Girls, That is the kind of girl you should strive to be.
And Boys!  That's the kind of girl you should strive to date
AND marry.

When peer pressure tries to tell you to do otherwise
that's when it's time to WALK AWAY.
Being a member of the IT GIRLS may be fun right now
BUT they are not going to be a part of your life in a
couple of years.  Most of them you will never see after
High School, but the mistakes you make as you try
to be ONE OF THEM may haunt you for the rest of your
life.

My advice to you is to Follow a
TRUE FRIEND,
OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST.
HE Will Never Lead You Wrong.
And
HE WILL Be By Your Side For Eternity.

Hebrews 13:5
....Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.

Living Under House Arrest - Turning 55

I have to say that turning 55 didn't hurt at all.

In fact it was one of my Best Days ever Thanks
to so many thoughtful people.

Trammell stepped up first, as he always does,
and took care of David for the entire night so
I would feel refreshed on my big day.  He then
did all my morning chores, made COFFEE
and brought me a cup in bed to start my day. :)

I then got to take a 25 minute drive alone
(Moms know how wonderful that is) to the
quaint town of Calabash, NC where my dear
friend Karen owns a beauty salon called Totally
Chic Salon & Spa, where they gave me a Free
Birthday Makeover.  It was SO Relaxing and
SO Much FUN to be pampered for hours.

After that I drove to the post office where I
had 3 birthdays cards to brighten my day also.

Then headed home where Trammell had baked
me the most Delicious chocolate cake with
chocolate icing.  He had it sitting in the coffee
table waiting for me And had the Happy Birthday
banner hanging on the wall.

I also received sooooo many Birthday wishes on
facebook and by email.  I enjoyed relaxing and
reading them and answering back as Trammell
took care of David so I could take care of me.

All in all "55" has been Fabulous so far.

I PRAISE GOD for ALL my BLESSINGS!

I PRAISE HIM for ALL my FRIENDS!

I PRAISE HIM for my LOVING FAMILY!

I PRAISE HIM for Giving me The MOST PRECIOUS
GIFTS HE Ever Gave me 20 YEARS AGO.
I Call Him TRAMMELL.
I Call Him my HERO.
I'm SO BLESSED to call him My Son.

THANK YOU ALL FOR MAKING THIS ONE
OF my BEST BIRTHDAYS EVER!!

Deuteronomy 28:12
The Lord shall open unto thee His good treasure,
the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in His
season, and to bless all the work of thine hand:
and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and
thou shalt not borrow.

he gave Trammell a discount card for 50% of his
purchase!
Trammell ended up getting a $2,000 wardrobe!

Plus we've already found someone to give all
of Trammell larger clothes to.
WHAT A BLESSING
TO BE ABLE TO BLESS SOMEONE ELSE!

Testimony.
WHAT A BLESSING!!

On top of that all the details fell right into place.

to take care of the nursing care, our hotel, gas
and food.
WHAT A BLESSING!!

Wednesday - We were invited to appear on
another show called "Nite Line" to share our

worked out.
WHAT A BLESSING!!

This we week also saw things working out with
our house in Greenville, that we sold in June.
It looks like we will be receiving payment for it
very soon.
WHAT A BLESSING!!

ALSO this week we are beginning to see
that the dream of having our own show
may be in our near future.
With the help of our new Mentors
Tanya and Rick of Boundless Limits,
who are showing us the ropes,
We now have plans to do a documentary
and a pilot of our show called
"Living Under House Arrest"
which is all about helping families who
find themselves living through the
same nightmare as our family.
We've learned so much during almost
7 years and we want to use what we've
learned to Help and Bless others.
We are handing this ALL over to
our LORD.  It's ALL in HIS Hands.
WHAT A BLESSING!!

We continue to want nothing more
than to be HIS humble servants.

Ephesians 3:20
Now all Glory to GOD, who is able,
through His mighty power at work
within us, to accomplish infinitely
more than we might ask or think.

LIVING UNDER HOUSE ARREST - Our Purpose

What a Blessing it is to be used for
God's Purpose.

My favorite thing to do in life is
to help those in need. How wonderful
it is to know that Trammell shares
this same passion.

I know that each time we are able
to help those in need, it is ONLY by
The Grace Of GOD.

This week we have been BLESSED
to be able to help three different families.
We consider that a HUGE BLESSING.

We are so excited about what God is
doing and the Awesome people HE
is placing in our lives.

We want nothing more than to live
our lives on this earth fulfilling
our "Purpose".

Ephesians 2:10
God has made us what we are.  In
Christ Jesus, God made us to do
good works, which God planned in
advance for us to live our lives doing.

LIVING UNDER HOUSE ARREST

Well, another week of ups and downs.
BUT PRAISING GOD as we ride this
Roller Coaster!

STILL dealing with the nightmare of our
house.  PRAYING that GOD will take over
and completely resolve this situation.
PRAYING FOR HIS WILL TO BE DONE.
I Know HE has a Plan and I know
when HE is ready to reveal it HE will.
SO I am NOT going to worry.

WHAT A BLESSING!
We received the Funds yesterday that will
enable us to purchase a minivan,
auto insurance for a year and gas for an Upstate
family in need who have no transportation.
This donation will also enable us to send a
shipment of Adult Diapers and bed pads to
two other families in need and for us too!!!
PLUS buy food and take care of other needs
for our family!!!
WE TRULY SERVE AN AWESOME GOD!!!!

We are SOOOO GRATEFUL For Those Who
Allow GOD to work through them in a way
that helps us and allows us to Help other
families in need.
TO HIM BE ALL THE GLORY!!

Another BLESSING!
We have a new nurse for David who lives
right here in the condos where we live.
What a Blessing she is.  We hire her for
4 hours each week so that we can go to
Church and run errands.

Trammell and I have been Praying for GOD to
enlarge our territory.
To allow our story to touch more lives.
To be able to Help more people in HIS Name.
And What A Mighty Work GOD Is Doing.
We are so excited about what HE is doing
and what HE has in store for us.
We are HIS humble servants and want nothing
more than to do what HE has placed us here to
do.

1 Chronicles 4: 9-10
...And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying,
'Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and
enlarge my territory, that You would be

evil, that I may not cause pain.'  So God granted
him what he requested.

Living Under House Arrest - Ups and Downs

This has been a week of ups and downs.
(You can check out all the details on my
facebook page at "Linda Byce".
The devil has been attacking us from all
sides.
What that tells me is that he's scared
of all the Awesome Plans God has in
store for us.
he is so scared he's bringing out the big
guns.
(Beginning that sentence with a
small letter was not mistake.  I never give
the devil any honor.  That means never
starting his name or any word that refers
to him with a capital letter.)

Any time the devil is attacking you don't worry,
it means you've got him worried.  It's when
he's not messing with you that you need to
worry.  That means you are no threat to him.

We must have the WITS Scared out of him.

The Wonderful thing it that this week just
like always, GOD took every mess and every
nightmare the devil through at us and turned
it into an AWESOME MIRACLE.  One
Blessing After Another.

We are
STILL PRAISING HIM IN THE
STORMS JUST AS WE PRAISE
HIM IN THE SUNSHINE!

James 4:7
Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Living Under House Arrest - Growing Old

I have written poetry my entire life.
I have a box filled with my poems,
songs and journals from all the way
back to my childhood.

Here's a poem I wrote entitled
"I've Been There".
I wrote it when I was
 29 as I thought about
growing old.
it's Fun to look back and read some
of the things I wrote back then as
I am turning the big 55 next month.

Hope you enjoy

"I've Been There"

Don't talk to me like life has passed me by,
I've Been There.

Don't look at me and sigh that long sad sigh,
I've Been There.

My hair may be the shade of gray, but hey,
I've Been There.

My clothes may not fit that certain way,
But, I've Been There.

I may take life a little slower now,
But, I've Been There.

I know it's not me when the guys say
"Look At That Gal!"
But Hey Kid,
I've Been There.

I've done what you're doing.
I've been where you're going.
And I've got the advantage of knowing
where it is you're going to,
Cause
I've Been There Too.
            By Linda Byce

Now days my focus is on Serving The LORD
and Caring for my Family.
Those other things that seemed so important
back then are of less value to me now.
With Age comes Wisdom.

Let's Never Forget,
Growing Old Is A BLESSING.
It is our gift from GOD that allows
us to spend more time doing what
HE Placed us here to do in the first
place.
Be Blessed

God's Gracious Word can make you into
what He wants you to be and give you
everything you could possibly need.

Oh The Miracles We Have Seen

During our 6 years and 8 months of this journey
our family has endured we have seen countless
Miracles.
God has indeed supplied every single need.  We
have never been homeless. (We came close when
a lady who owned the condo we were living in
had her lawyer send us a letter telling us we had
24 hours to get out because we were unable to buy
the condo.)  We've never been hungry, or gone
without any basic needs.
Every Time the devil has tried to tear us down
God has ALWAYS turned it
into an AWESOME BLESSING.

God has supplied even the tiniest needs
 like manna from Heaven.
Things Like -

* A gallon of tea.  One night I realized after
I had dragged myself to bed, I had
forgotten to make it  -  about that time
the doorbell rings and there was our Preacher's
daughter standing there with a gallon of tea
they had left over from a youth meeting, along
with other goodies.

* I needed stuffing for pillows I was making - I walked
to the trash compactor and there stacked neatly
was things from someone who was moving and
didn't have room to take a lot of there things.
On top of one stack was an unopened bag of
Polyfill Stuffing. (The same kind I always use.)

* We were flat broke.  Only a few cents in my
pocket - I was walking across the grocery store
parking lot when I looked down and laying there
so flatten from being run over that it even had
the imprint of the asphalt, was a hundred dollar
bill.  I reached down and picked it up not even
sure if it was real.  It was obvious it had been there
for a while.  And yes it was real alright.

* Our air condition went out - A neighbor gave
us the name of a repairman.  When he came
to check it out he discovered it needed an
expensive part.  But after further study
he discovered  that there had been a recall
on the part.  We didn't have to pay for the
part or the labor.  On top of that the
gentleman was a member of an organization
who sometimes helped local families in need.
After he told them about our family a
few members came to our home a week later
and presented us with $1000.00 in grocery
store gift cards.

It goes on and on and on.
Miracle After Miracle.

Even over the past few weeks Blessings
continue to flow.

* I needed an ironing board - I put it on my
list.  The next day as I went to take
the trash out, there leaning against the
fence was a perfect ironing board. Just
like knew.  I took it home, sanitized it and
bought a pad/cover for it at the dollar store.

* We needed a kitty door for the
sliding glass door for Chocolate to go back
and forth to the balcony so she could get to
her litter box we keep in the utility room.
The door that matched our door
happened to be the top of the line style which
cost $260.  NO WAY would we EVER get it.
Even if we had that kind of money there was
NO WAY I'd pay that much for a cat door.
- well, two weeks ago, AGAIN as I was taking
the trash out, there laying against the fence
at the trash compactor was the very cat door
we needed.
The very door we had seen online for $260.
No one even knew we were looking at cat doors.
No One but Trammell, me and Of Course God.
It looked brand new.  I could hardly believe my eyes.
As a matter of fact, if Trammell had not found it online
and showed it to me I would have walked right
by it never even knowing what it was.
I loaded it up and took it back to our condo
where Trammell wiped it down with Clorox
wipes and installed it.
It looks Great and works great.

Time and time again God has rain down HIS
Blessings upon us, Supplying every single need.
Many times before we even know there is
a need.

I continue to remind myself each time I even
start to worry about anything, that
GOD'S GOT IT ALL UNDER CONTROL.
There Is Never A Time To Worry.
Only A Time To Pray.

Philippians 4:19
And my GOD shall supply every need of
yours according to His riches in Glory in
Christ Jesus.

Catching Up

Where to start?

So much has happened.

We love our new place.  I signed
a three year lease so we will be
here for a while.

David is the same.  Diapers, baby bottles,
preschool toys and Nick Jr. cartoons.
He really enjoys sitting out on
the balcony which overlooks the
Intracoastal Waterway.  He loves
watching the boats go by.

Trammell is doing great.  He has
lost a lot of weight!  Since January
he's gone from a waist size of 38 to
a 31.  He has set up a Gym in our
extra bedroom and is getting into
great shape.
He still can't feel his legs or feet but
nothing stops him.
He is as awesome cook and does most
of the cooking for us. What a BLESSING!
He works so hard helping me care for
his Dad.  David and I are So Blessed to
have a son like Trammell.

Me? Praying I can just get my health
back so I can give 110% to caring for
my family.
I don't stop when I'm sick,
I just move a lot slower. LOL
My liver is doing great now.
My BP has been bottoming out
and because of that I ended up
having an EMS ride to the hospital
a couple of weeks ago.
After 5 hours in the ER they
determined that along with my
BP problem I had a really bad
Kidney infection and suffered
from Exhaustion.

Trammell surprised me with a
weekend trip to Charleston last
week for some much needed
R&R.  Plus a tour of the Sea Turtle
Hospital.  It Was Awesome.
WHAT A BLESSING!!!
A Very dear friend of ours
volunteered to stay the entire
weekend and care for David so
we could get away.
In the past 2,424 days I've now
had 80 nights of SLEEP.

Our House In Greenville.
The Nightmare continues.
We were able to go to
Greenville the first of June
and began cleaning it out
along with some dear friends
who were kind enough to help
us.
It was a hardship because we
had to bring David and the cat
with us and stay in a hotel for
a week plus hire a sitter for
David every day.
We were Blessed when a friend
contacted a builder who made
us an awesome offer.
What a Blessing!
He would buy the house for $100,000.
Sadly that $20 less than we gave
for it in the year 2000.
He would repair the thousands
of dollars in damages then put
the house on the market then
pay us for the house when it
sold.
But his plans changed and he
and his family had to moved
into the house.
This means that this part of
our (six year, eight month)
nightmare continues.
We are Praying that he
will be able to pay us for the
house very soon and we can go
on with our life.

As always, we humbly ask for your
Prayers.
Thank You So Much,
Linda Byce

Book we are reading - The Purpose Driven Life

Verse of the Week - So we fix our eyes not on what is seen,
but on what is unseen.  For what is seen
is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

It Feels Good To Be Missed

I got a call the other days from a sweet lady who
said she and the ladies in her office had been reading
my blog but it had been months since I had written
and they wondered what happened to me.

First of all let me say that made me feel so
good to think that there are people out there
who really care about what I have to say.
What a wonderful feeling.
What a Blessing.

I had started the blog while we were living in
a beach front condo at Bay Watch Resort in
North Myrtle Beach for the winter.
I called it
"100 Days In Paradise"
as kind of a play on words because we were
Living Our
"Nightmare" in "Paradise".

I hated that I had only posted the blog 98
out of the 100 days.
I missed two days when I was so
sick for a time that two days I could not
even sit up to write.

Starting today I am going to start another
blog called, appropriate enough,
LIVING UNDER HOUSE ARREST.

It will be a weekly blog, posted each
Saturday.

Hoping it will be a Blessing to everyone
who reads it.

Thank You All,
Linda Byce

DAY 100 OF 100 DAYS IN PARADISE!!!!!!

OUR LAST NIGHT HERE.
My last night to fall asleep to the sound
of the waves crashing to shore.
It will be the last morning I awaken to the
sun as it  appears over the blue of the ocean.

This has by far been my favorite place to live
in all my 54 years.

I do however look forward to our new place.
Our water view will be the Intercoastal
Waterway.  And we are trading the SUNRISE
for the SUNSET.
I am told that all size boats and ships will come
right by our balcony.  I am told that the Sunsets
are breath taking.

PRAISING GOD for our next adventure.

May HIS GRACE continue to carry us through
each and every day and night of this UNEXPECTED
JOURNEY.
Now in Day 2,284.

Proverbs 16:1
People may make plans in their minds,
but only the Lord can make them come
true.

DAY 99 OF 100 DAYS IN PARADISE - EXHAUSTION

PURE EXHAUSTION is the only way to
describe the way I feel.
Packing and Moving and Unpacking.

BUT Praising GOD that my side has only
hurt one time the entire day!  TO GOD BE
THE GLORY!  MY HEALER!!!

I will say Good Night for my body needs
rest.  Trammell is going to care for David
until 3:00am then I will take over.
Another busier than usual day tomorrow.
Please Keep us in your Prayers.

DAY 98 OF 100 DAYS IN PARADISE - Packing and Stacking AGAIN

Trammell and I packed MORE boxes today.
We are going to try and move the rest of our
things over to the condo tomorrow.
We have our nurse coming over to care for
David from 10 until 2.  As usual we will be in
a mad dash to get EVERYTHING done in 4 hours.
We will take a van full over and unload it.  Then run
to pick up some twin size sheets for each of us.
Then run to Sams Club and pick up our order,
then run it back to the new place and put it
up.  By that time our four hours will be up.

I am sitting here writing this blog as I watch
David on the monitor.  He had such a big
lunch today that for dinner tonight I only
fixed chicken soup, crackers, a PB&J with
a side of pretzel sticks and ice tea.
He is doing OK feeding himself tonight
BUT he just reached over and instead of
his crackers, he took a hand full of pretzel
sticks and dumped them over into his bowl
of chicken soup.  Now that's not going
to be easy to eat with a spoon. LOL

I am still not feeling well.  Still having pain
but not as much today. To God Be The Glory.
Still light headed and racing heart.
Plus I have had the worst headache all day.
I guess from the high BP and running
so much as usual.

Two more days until MOVE-IN Day!

Thank You for ALL Your continued PRAYERS!
You will never know how much that means to us.

DAY 97 OF 100 DAYS IN PARADISE - A HEALING LIVER

SO
I went to the doctor today.
My numbers are almost back to normal
AGAIN.
BUT my blood pressure was really high
and he is concerned about all of the heart
palpitations I've been having daily.
I believe after I get us moved it will
calm down and the BP will drop back
down to normal.  My concern is the pain
I am still having in my right side.
I have to back on April 9th for a
check-up and then go back again
a week later.

NOW
Talking about the MOVE,  we have
2 mattresses. THAT'S IT.
We have 3 days before we move in
to our new place.  I am worn out
trying to pack, move, care for David,
fight this cold, and find furniture.
I really don't know what I would do
without Trammell.
Please Keep us in your Prayers.

As I sit here writing this I am looking
across the ocean at the most magnificent
full moon.

Thanking God for Every Day and Every Blessing.

Psalm 37:24
Though they stumble, they will never fall,
for the Lord holds them by the hand.

DAY 96 OF 100 DAYS IN PARADISE - EVERY DAY Is A Blessing

EVERY SINGLE DAY that we are given on this
earth is a BLESSING.
The GREAT Days.
The GOOD Days.
The JUST GET THROUGH IT Days.
The BAD Days.
The REALLY BAD Days.
The BAD HAIR Days, Ladies.
AND yes, even The
"THIS IS THE WORST DAY OF MY LIFE" Days.

Everyday, no matter how it starts, no matter how it ends,
no matter how young or how old we are,
is a wonderful 24 hour gift from GOD.

I PRAISE HIM AND GIVE HIM ALL THE GLORY
FOR EVERY ONE OF MY 19,899 DAYS ON THIS EARTH.
YES, even the last 2,280 days and nights my family has
spent living this nightmare.
Yes, EVEN THOSE.

It's ALL God's Plan
SO turn loose and let HIM control it ALL.

PRAISE HIM for  "EVERY"  DAY.

1 Thessalonians 5:18
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the
will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

DAY 95 OF 100 DAYS IN PARADISE - A Cold Rainy Sunday

Today has been a bed day.
Just up and down taking care of David.

My side (my liver) has hurt all day long.
AND
Every time I talk, I cough.
Trammell will tell you that just may be
a good thing. LOL
I'm not saying much because when I do
I start coughing and then my side hurts more.

SO looking forward to watching THE BIBLE
on the History Channel tonight at 8:00.
Trammell and I haven't missed a week.
Now THAT'S Good TV!

This time next week we should be in our new
condo.  Trammell and I have a LOT to get
done this week.
With both of us still sick with this cold or
flu or what ever it is.  It's knocking us down
and kicking us around.
Plus me being in such pain with my liver,
this is not going to be a fun week.
It's going to be a
"Let's Just Get Through This"
kind of week.
We Really Need Your Prayers!

Isaiah 40:31
But those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.  They
will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

DAY 94 OF 100 DAYS OF PARADISE - A MURPHY'S LAW Day

Oh has this been one of  THOSE days.
A Murphy's Law Day and then some.
I am too tired to even write about it.

The One thing that got me through it
and continues to get me through day
after day of this SIX year, THREE month
nightmare is Our LORD JESUS CHRIST.

No matter what satan throws at me I know
             GOD'S GOT THIS!

Trammell and I did manage to get a lot of
boxes packed today.  I'll be SO glad to get
this done.
Oh how I wish the closing on our house had
happened months ago when it was supposed
to.  Oh how I wish we had been able to go
ahead and buy a home like we had planned.
Oh how I wish we weren't having to move into
yet another rental.
BUT our plans are not always GOD'S Plans
and GOD'S Plans Are Always Best.

Please Keep Us In Your Prayers.

People may make plans in their minds, but
only the Lord can make them come true.

DAY 93 OF 100 DAYS IN PARADISE - GOD'S GOT THIS!

No matter what it is GOD'S got it ALL under control.

Every time we are in need of anything God's takes
care of it.
How many times have I wasted time spinning my wheels
when HE took care of ALL our needs.

There I was stressing over the search for a place to live
when the call came to me.
Not only that but the wonderful retired couple
who owns the condo is such a Blessing.  They have already
let us know that they will be happy to come over and baby
sit David any time we get in a bind and need a sitter.
They even let us pick the day we want to pay our rent each
month.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY!

There I was stressed about finding a nurse for David when
all I had to do was mention it to the girls at the front desk
here at Bay Watch and the next day I got a call from the
Mom of one of the girls.
She used to work for the disability board Plus she is well
known and loved by many of the staff here at Bay Watch.
This has allowed Trammell and me to leave  yesterday and
today getting things moved into the condo and getting things
like mattresses and looking for things we need for our move.
She's coming back Monday so we can take another load over
and go to the Goodwill in Little River to look for furniture.

TO GOD BE THE GLORY!

Please keep us in your Prayers.  I know I have been over
doing it this week.  I am in pain tonight in the area of my
liver but I do not dare take anything for it.  Like I've
mentioned before, anything for pain is terrible for the liver.

Isaiah 65:24
I will answer them before they even call to me.
While they are still talking about their needs,
I will go ahead and answer their Prayers.

DAY 92 OF 100 DAYS IN PARADISE - David's Birthday

On Easter Sunday David will turn 56,
although he has no idea how old he really is.
On his birthday each year we ask him how
old he is.  One year he held up 4 fingers. One
year he said he was 5.  I think last year he said
he was 9.
We could ask him his age every hour of every day
and he would give us a different answer each time.

He doesn't have any idea what year it is.  Most
times when we ask him he thinks it's the 70's.

Each year I buy or bake him a birthday cake.
Trammell and I blow up balloons and hang a birthday
banner in the bedroom for him to see.  We give him 2
or 3 gifts to unwrap. Preschool toys, a new sock
monkey and a new night shirt.
He always seems to like them.
His eyes really light up when we bring in his
cake and ice cream.

Each year I ask friends and family to PLEASE if
they could, Please mail him a Birthday Card.  He
really seems to love opening the cards and having
me read them to him and then I set them on his
tray.  He holds them and looks them for days.

The sad truth is he only receives 2 of 3 each year.
I know everyone is really busy these days
BUT once again I am begging for everyone to
PLEASE if you can, would you send David a
Birthday Card or if your child would like to
draw him a Birthday picture it would mean the world
to me and I know it would bring such joy to David.

DAY 91 OF 100 DAYS IN PARADISE - Another Sick Day

Between the hepatitis and this cold I need a
Sick Day.
I've packed a few boxes and with Trammell's
help we are taking good care of David
BUT the rest of the time I am crashing
Poor Trammell is STILL sick too.

We are watching our favorite channel on TV as
we recuperate,  "HGTV".

Time for some nice warm chicken soup on the
cold Sick Day.

Please continue to keep us in your Prayers.

cheer, these limitations that cut me down to

DAY 90 OF 100 DAYS IN PARADISE - I HAVE HEPATITIS!?!

SO
I went to a new doctor this morning.
I then waited TWO HOURS to see the
doctor.
He says I have
CHEMICALLY INDUCED HEPATITIS?

The chemicals being the yellow root and all
the vitamins that I have now been off of since
February 18th.

He did not give me anything to take for it.
In fact he took me off my hormone Rx.
(Really not looking forward to that. Can
I tell you how much I hate Hot Flashes)

The only thing he wants me taking is my
Thyroid Rx.  No vitamins. Nothing that
could effect my liver.

I have to go back next week for more blood
work.
I also have to move us into the new condo
next week.
It's unfurnished and all of our
things are in storage in the Upstate.

A very dear friend of ours is going to
bring David's hospital bed down next week.
We are SO Thankful for that.

I'm going to hit the Goodwill and Salvation Army
stores this week and next to see what I
can find.  Any other time that would be like
going to Disney World for me BUT not feeling
this bad and not being in such pain.  Un-Fun

Please, we humbly ask that you all continue to Pray for us.

I Corinthians 16:13,14
Be on guard.  Stand firm in the faith.
Be courageous.  Be strong.  And do
everything with love.

DAY 89 OF 100 DAYS IN PARADISE - The Struggle To Get Help

When I took David to the doctor the first part of February
I left a form for there to be filled out and signed so that we
could try and get a $500 voucher for about 25 hours of
nursing care for David from the Waccamaw Regional
Family Caregivers Group.
We have been OK'ed for the hours BUT we can't receive
them until they get the form from the doctor's office.

I have been on the phone with the doctor's office two
times a day for over a week and each time I am told
that the papers are on the doctor's desk and he will
sign them and they will fax them tomorrow.

Well TOMORROW seems to never come.
They know how important these hours are to us
and that right now we are out of hours.  That leaves
us having to pay the $20.00 an hour for week days
or $25.00 an hour for weekends.

I even called David's doctor in the Upstate to see
if they would sign the paper. They said yes
BUT they still haven't done so as far as I know.
I'll be calling Waccamaw RFCG in the morning
to see if either doctor has signed the papers.
It has become one of my daily routines.

We still haven't found a private nurse down here to
hire when we need to leave the house so we have no
choice but to use the Nursing Agency.

Please Pray that we will find one soon.  If you know
of a reliable sitter in the North Myrtle Beach area
who will work for $10 an hour PLEASE let me know.

Galatians 6:9
And let us not grow weary of doing good
for in due season we will reap, if we do
not give up.

DAY 88 OF 100 DAYS IN PARADISE - A Tranquil Setting

Again God has lead us to a wonderful
place to live.

I had gotten nothing but confused and
frustrated after calling about place after
place.
We were running into the same old problem.
We need a place that will allow us to have
Chocolate, our 13 year old Persian cat who
is a part of our family.
Plus,
We have to have first floor with no steps,
Or  an elevator if it's on a higher floor.

WELL,
We got a Miracle call.
One of the lady's who works here in the
office at Bay Watch gave me the name
and number of a real estate lady she
knows.  I called her to tell her what we
needed.  She doesn't deal in rentals BUT
she has some friends who own a condo
about a mile up the road.
I got a call yesterday from the sweet, retired
couple, who told me that a friend had
called them to tell them about us and that
they would like for us to look at their
condo.
We would be allowed to have our cat.
PLUS
Even though it's on the forth floor
there is an elevator.

SO
I met the wife, Mary, at the condo today.
It's the most tranquil and beautiful place
AND
The best part is it's right on the Intracoastal
Waterway with a huge screened-in balcony.

Another Great thing is they are going to let
me start moving things in next week.  That
way I can take my time and have everything
set up before I move David and Trammell in.

WHAT A BLESSING!
WHAT AN AWESOME GOD WE SERVE!

Again,
there was nothing to worry or wonder about.
GOD had it ALL under control.
HE Always Does.

Isaiah 65:24
I will answer them before they even call to me.
While they are still talking about their needs,
I will go ahead and answer their prayers.

DAY 87 OF 100 DAYS IN PARADISE - Milk Thistle?

I had never heard of "Milk Thistle" before
my liver problems.
Trammell discovered it while researching
things that would help after I received
the liver failure diagnosis.
It was no time at all when I had my numbers
back to where they were supposed to be.
My liver was well on it's way to being healed.
We PRAISE GOD and give HIM ALL the
GLORY!

I began taking less of the Milk Thistle.  Partly
because my doctor told me to stop taking
it because she didn't know anything about it
plus she doesn't believe in taking vitamins.
She said maybe just a multivitamin would
be OK.

SO
I cut down to one a day.  At that time I began
experiencing some pain in my liver and then in
both my kidneys again.
I called the doctor to ask about it.
They called back and told me they wanted me
to see another doctor they have there in the
same building.
My appointment is Tuesday at 10:00.

In the mean time I thought maybe I should stop
taking the Milk Thistle all together until my
appointment just in case it was masking something
that's going on in my liver.
I haven't taken any since Wednesday and by
last night I was really hurting and today I feel
 really bad,
SO I have started back taking the MILK THISTLE.

I don't know what's in it but I can tell you what ever
it is IT WORKS!

Please keep us in your PRAYERS.
Please Pray for Healing.

Matthew 21:22
And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in Prayer,
believing, ye shall receive.

DAY 86 OF 100 DAYS IN PARADISE - PRAISING GOD FOR MIRACLES

As of this very minute it looks like our house
is SOLD!
PRAISING GOD.
PRAYING that everything goes well next week
and we will have a closing date before long.

ALSO
We thought we were out of nursing hours for David.
It turned out that there was a miscalculation.
The lady from RestCare HomeCare emailed me
letting me know we still had 4&1/2 hours left.
The thing was we had to use them today or lose them.
The deadline was 03/15/13.
Well, as fate would have it, Trammell just happened
to be looking on line at a place he has wanted to go
since he was 7 years old but it was just too expensive.
It's a place called Medieval Times.
It just so happened that they were have a "Spring Break
Special"  Buy One Get One Free Tickets!!  AND they
were having a rare 11:30 Matinee TODAY!
He was SO excited when I agreed that it was the perfect
chance for us to go.
We called and made our reservations.  We were told to
be there at 10:30am which worked great because we had
the nurse scheduled for 10:00am.

Well,
9:40am, we are dressed and waiting for the nurse when
I get an email from RestCare telling me that the nurse
they had scheduled had called in sick.
NO!

You guys have NO IDEA how many times this has
happened to us during the last six years. AND it's
ALWAYS when we have an appointment.
It's SO Stressful.

They found a replacement nurse and she was here by
10:35.
We made it to Medieval Times by 11:15.
Just as they were allowing everyone to go to their seats.
The place was PACKED!  7 bus loads of school kids!
Can you say "LOAD"!   LOL

We had a BLAST!

Trammell kept saying,
"I CAN'T BELIEVE WE ARE HERE!
After All The Years I've Dreamed Of This!"

That's not the end of this day filled with
MIRACLES!

After we left Medieval Times we headed
to Jean and Tom's house in Conway.  Our
dear friends who take up diapers, pads and
gloves for us. They had enough of each
to do us for weeks.

What a Wonderful Day filled with
BLESSING and MIRACLES.

Ephesians 3:20
Now all glory to GOD, Who is able, through
his mighty power at work within us, to
accomplish infinitely more than we might
ask or think.
